Tailored for new challenge, Mixer’ solutions for medium voltage insulation

Modern electrical infrastructure is evolving rapidly, becoming more decentralized, more resilient, and more responsive to the growing demands of energy distribution. At the heart of this transformation lies a network of systems that must operate reliably across diverse contexts, where cable technologies are required to adapt to a wide range of technical and environmental challenges.

Medium voltage cables play a central role in this landscape. They are bridging the gap between high voltage transmission lines to low voltage applications, ensuring that energy flows safely and efficiently. Among the various categories of this equipment, rubber medium voltage cables serve as a cornerstone of modern electrical infrastructure. Their superior flexibility, resistance to environmental stressors and enhanced safety features represent starting points for building cable systems that meet the evolving demands of modern framework.

EKOPREN® portfolio for medium voltage insulation

In this context, Mixer has developed a tailored portfolio of its EKOPREN® for medium voltage insulation compounds, consistently enhanced over the years to thoroughly meet the distinct and diverse requirements. Among the various applications we serve, rubber medium voltage cables are essential for the transmission of power from substations to transformer stations, ensuring the reliable delivery of electricity to large commercial buildings and facilitating critical connections within industrial facilities. Moreover, in the current fast-changing energy scenario, the demand for these medium voltage cables is significantly increasing as they play an important role also in the renewable energy sector. Their natural flexibility and adaptability make them especially suitable for the operation of wind turbines.

Nowadays, EKOPREN® portfolio includes a comprehensive range of grades specifically engineered for medium voltage applications and up to 95 kV. Our compounds are based on EPR (Ethylene Propylene Rubber), EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), and blends of EPDM and PE. Furthermore, as we continue to enhance our capabilities, we remain focused on delivering cutting-edge products that not only comply with industry standards but also fulfil the expectations of our customers across various sectors. Therefore, our offer includes lead compounds as well as lead-free grades, offering RoHS compliant solutions. All the EKOPREN® compounds meet the specifications for 90°C and 105°C operating temperature for either single core or multicore cables and they are suitable for static and dynamic applications in extremely cold conditions, reaching as low as to -40°C. In particular, all our grades are compliant with national, international, and US standards like CEI 20-13, IEC 60502, and UL 1072, respectively.
